Brake Pedal

Brake Pedal

The brake pedal has two main roles.
One is the interface of the braking system. This function controls the braking amount of the car according to how much the brake pedal is pressed.
The other is the amplification of the force to step on. To stop a heavy vehicle with the force of a person, it is necessary to amplify the force to be stepped on.
The brake pedal also uses the lever ratio (this principle) to assist in the amplification.

Types of Brake Pedal

There are two types of brake pedals we are designing: single type and link type.
With the single type, the lever ratio is constant while the pedal arm is operating at one position.
The link type connects two pedal arms with a mechanic link, and the lever ratio can be varied depending on the amount of pedal pressed in, which improves the comfort of stepping on the pedal.

Comparison of single type and link type

In the single type, there is a thin plate hollow pedal aiming at the lightest weight, compared with the normal thick plate pedal.
Thin plate hollow pedal is a lightweight pedal that maintains rigidity by combining two thin plate pressed products with plasma welding to form a hollow structure.
